BidBox

Point your phone at a collectible’s package — seconds later it is live in an auction. Scan → confirm → sell.

BidBox — Mobile Marketplace · Scan-to-Auction

A mobile marketplace built around one experience: create a listing in under ten seconds with zero typing. The launch category is Hot Wheels die-cast, but the data model is generic enough for Pokémon cards, Matchbox, Beyblade, Funko or LEGO minifigures. Bidding is live over WebSockets.

The Problem

Listing a collectible means photos, titles, series, variants and condition — typed on a phone, for every single item. Serious collectors have hundreds.

The Solution

Recognition does the typing: a provider-agnostic pipeline identifies the item against the catalog with vector search, the seller confirms, and the auction starts.

What I Built

  • →Scan → confirm → sell flow designed for one hand
  • →Catalog matching with pgvector
  • →Live auctions and bidding over Socket.IO
  • →Watchlists, messaging and sold history
  • →Browse without an account; login only to bid, sell, watch or message
  • →Fully working offline demo marketplace in debug builds

Highlights

  • →Listing in under 10 seconds, zero typing
  • →Live bidding over WebSockets
  • →Real catalog with 37,687 photos

Outcome

  • →Real Hot Wheels catalog imported with 37,687 photos
  • →In development — tested on physical iPhones
